INDOOR TANNING

Exposure to sunlight is your body's main source of Vitamin D. Vitamin D is very important for bone formation and repair as well as the absorption of calcium and phosphorus.

Studies done by the International Smart Tan Network show that indoor tanners are 81% less likely to sunburn outdoors than non-tanners.

Indoor tanning can be very convenient. There are never any worries about weather or pesky bugs. You lie back in the comfort of your own private room and enjoy the year round sunshine that we can provide for you.

No more will you have to spend hours in the hot sun to get a golden tan. Depending on your skin type, it only takes a few sessions before you start to notice a color change in your skin.

PRECAUTIONS:

  • Protect your eyes. Wear special, indoor sun goggles, your own or  the ones provided for you in each room. Simply closing your eyes or wearing outdoor sunglasses will not provide protection against possible long-term eye injury.

  • Protect your lips. Your lips do not produce melanin and will burn easily unless you protect them with lipbalms containing sunscreens. Ask us about lip balms made especially for tanning beds.

  • If you are taking any medications, please let one of our staff know. Some medications can cause reactions with UV light, so it is important that you tell us.

  • Moisturize your skin! The heat and light from tanning sessions can dry your skin. Because moist skin tans best, we recommend you moisturize before and after each tanning session to get the most out of each visit. We offer a variety of indoor tanning lotions and after-tan products to help keep your skin looking healthy.

  • Know your skin type!

We provide consultation to determine your skin type and we suggest exposure times to help reduce your risks of sunburning.

You are advised NOT to utilize indoor tanning equipment if:

    you are under 16

you have fair or sensitive skin that burns easily or tans slowly, poorly or not at all

you have a history of severe sunburn, especially in childhood

you have a large number of freckles and/or red hair OR VERY LIGHT blonde hair

you have a large number of moles or lesions

you are taking medications or using creams which may sensitize the skin to sunlight, like Retinol, Retin-A & Renova; ask your doctor if unsure (*even some birth control meds cause light sensitivity)

you have a medical condition that is worsened by sunlight

your family has skin cancer in their medical history.

    * Any other reasons that you may be unsure of -- ask a doctor qualified in skincare and cancer detection; like a dermatologist.)
